No - conversion uses Web Audio API entirely in your browser. Files never leave your device.
WAV is an uncompressed format, so output files are typically larger than compressed inputs like MP3 or AAC. A 5 MB MP3 file may produce a 50 MB WAV. This is normal - WAV preserves full audio quality without any compression artifacts.
The output WAV file uses the same sample rate as your input file (typically 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz) at 16-bit depth. This is CD quality and compatible with virtually all audio software and devices.
Currently the tool outputs WAV format for maximum quality and compatibility. To get MP3, convert to WAV here, then use a dedicated MP3 encoder. Browser-based MP3 encoding has licensing limitations that prevent direct MP3 output.
