Default ringtones are boring. Here's how to turn any song into a custom ringtone in about 60 seconds.
Step by Step
- Open the Audio Trimmer and upload your MP3 file
- Find the section you want (usually the chorus or a catchy hook)
- Set the start and end points. For a ringtone, aim for 20-30 seconds
- Choose MP3 as the output format
- Download your trimmed clip
Setting It as Your Ringtone
Android: Copy the MP3 to your phone (via USB or cloud). Go to Settings > Sound > Phone ringtone > Add ringtone. Select your file.
iPhone: This is where Apple makes it annoying. You need to convert the MP3 to M4R format (rename .m4a to .m4r), then add it via Finder/iTunes. Or use GarageBand on the iPhone to set it directly. Yes, it's ridiculous that it's this complicated in 2026.
Tips for a Good Ringtone
Start the clip a half-second before the part you want. This gives a natural lead-in instead of starting abruptly. End it at a natural pause in the music. And keep it under 30 seconds. Any longer and people around you will start to judge.
