Why Pages End Up Sideways
Scanners are the usual culprit. Feed a landscape document through an upright scanner and the pages come out rotated. Phone scanning apps sometimes get the orientation wrong too, especially if you're scanning at an angle.
The other common cause: merging PDFs where some pages were landscape and others were portrait. The merge preserves each page's original orientation, so you end up with a document that flips between orientations.
